I am motivated by the beauty and wonders of our oceans.  I want to help others learn about this amazing underwater world.  I hope that people will learn to cherish it and want to protect it.  For those reasons I want to help out as much as possible, when possible, through several venues.  One is underwater research diving, the other is underwater videography and film making, and another is helping with projects like Dive San Diego.

My Imaging Career

I began making short films in high school. After graduation, my father gave me my first 35mm film camera. In 1977 it was almost an antique, the Argus C3 35mm film camera. I soon became a serious amateur SLR photographer, upgrading my gear and studying. In college I choose computers as my career but never gave up my love for film, and soon expanded it to included graphic images such as fractal designs.

I became a certified scuba diver in 2001. In 2002 I was handed my son's digital underwater camera, while on a dive. I quickly figured out how to use it and even more exciting I found the video mode.  Although I always have had the highest standards for my equipment and my work, a digital SLR with underwater housing was out of my reach at the time.  I slowly moved from predominately stills to underwater video.

In 2005 I met Mary Lynn Price and my filming direction and motivations have never been the same.  She has both inspired me and mentored me.  She encouraged me to switch to undersea HDV (high definition video).  In 2005 I was fortunate enough to purchased a professional HDV camcorder. And in 2006 I purchased an underwater housing and began my undersea filming in earnest.  I have sold stock footage and imaging to
RS-FILM, a German TV station, DiveNav, an interactive 3D diving simulation product, and ArtToMedia, a producer of waterproof 3D Dive Maps.

In 2007 I was asked to join the
San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition as a committee member. SDUFEX is committed to "showcas[ing] some of the best of the underwater video creations".  In 2008 SDUFEX became SDUFEX, Inc., a local venue to showcase some of the best of the underwater video creations of divers the world over.
